About Judge Linda R. Pratt

Judge Pratt was born outside Pensacola, Florida in 1951 and moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1953. The oldest of three children, she graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1969 as valedictorian, and magna cum laude from Tulane University in 1973. Judge Pratt and her husband Richard Pratt have been married for 25 years and have three children: Laura, a nursing student at the University of Florida, and twins Mike and Sara, college bound high school seniors.

In 1986 Judge Pratt was elected a County Court judge, and currently is assigned to a civil division. She has 23 years of proven judicial experience spanning many types of legal cases in Broward County Courts.

  • Civil court, handling thousands of cases involving claims up to $15,000

  • 2 year clerkship with a US District Court judge in Fort Lauderdale
  • Admitted to United States District Court, Southern District of Florida, Trial Bar, 1985
  • Admitted to United States Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit, 1981
  • Admitted to Florida Bar in 1976
